1) Why did this piece stand out to you?
I had always wanted a ring with a single emerald-cut diamond at the center. One time, I casually showed my fiancé a few rings from KARAAT and mentioned how much I loved that style. That’s where it all began…
2) What story or meaning does this particular piece hold for you?
We were getting ready to travel with my fiancé and my parents — first to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and then to Sicily to visit family. I had shown him the ring from KARAAT less than three weeks before the trip, so I didn’t even consider that a proposal could be possible during the vacation. But my fiancé had already contacted the founder of KARAAT to ask if it would be possible to deliver a 1ct diamond ring in under two weeks. The founder called the goldsmith to see if they had the right diamond and time to make it happen. Fortunately, they found a 1.31ct diamond, and the ring was made and shipped via PostNord to my fiancé. The delivery was tight — in the end, my fiancé and my dad had to pick up the package from PostNord’s main warehouse just one day before our departure. The ring then traveled in my father’s luggage to Belgium, then to the Olympics in Paris, and finally to Sicily — where my fiancé got down on one knee and proposed with my dream ring in hand. I said “yes” before he could even get the words out. We even have professional photos from the proposal, with the ring beautifully captured.
3) How has your diamond jewelry become a part of your life?
My engagement ring is absolutely perfect. The diamond sparkles so beautifully and instantly became a part of me — I wear it every single day. I’ve received so many compliments on it, even from complete strangers!
